Ocean Orchids grows orchids in an Ultra-Clima® greenhouse

The Challenge

Ocean Orchids faced the challenge of growing Phalaenopsis orchids on a large scale while maintaining consistent quality. Orchids are sensitive to fluctuations in temperature, humidity and air movement. A stable greenhouse climate is therefore essential for uniform growth, strong plants and reliable production.

At the same time, Ocean Orchids wanted to connect its cultivation approach to a sustainable energy strategy. The company uses geothermal energy and states that its cultivation method results in the smallest CO₂ footprint in Europe within its category.

The Solution

The Results

Ocean Orchids grows approximately 2 million Phalaenopsis orchids each year in a 4-hectare greenhouse area in Dobrovnik, Slovenia. Thanks to the use of geothermal energy and a controlled greenhouse environment, the company can produce on a large scale with a focus on quality and low CO₂ impact.

The project shows that Ultra-Clima® is valuable not only for vegetable cultivation, but also for high-quality ornamental horticulture. Especially in orchid cultivation, where climate stability directly affects the final product, controlled cultivation makes the difference.
