KUBO PRESENTS ‘KUBO 75 YEARS’

Two years ago, family business KUBO celebrated its 75-year jubilee. To commemorate the occasion, the company has produced a beautiful book about the history of KUBO up till now. A book full of stories, anecdotes and photos, portraying the ‘Kubans’ themselves (as the KUBO employees are called), clients, suppliers and others closely involved with KUBO.

Tradition

Two years have now passed since KUBO’s 75-year anniversary, and, despite the Covid pandemic, this milestone was not allowed to pass unnoticed. “By combining all the stories, I hope we can reveal a little bit of the true KUBO spirit,” explains Wouter Kuiper, CEO of KUBO. Wouter took over the reins of the company from his father Ed Kuiper in 2006, who in turn took over from his father in 1970. Ed has always had a thing for books. When KUBO turned 60, he commissioned a beautiful photo album about the nearby Westland beach. This tradition is now being continued with the ‘KUBO 75 years’ book.

Pride

The author of the new book is Paolo Bouman. He interviewed and photographed 42 employees and business contacts. Once you start reading, you are struck by the pride and solidarity within the company. But also by how hard everyone works and their eagerness to help one another. And at KUBO they also know how to enjoy themselves!

Anecdote from the book

“In Canada we were driving from our hotel to meet a client. On the road, Wouter realised that he didn’t have his wallet. He had left it on the roof of the car before getting in. Anyone else would have turned back or at least blocked his bank cards. Not Wouter. ‘I’ll sort it out later. First we have an appointment with the client.’ When we got back to the hotel, his wallet had thankfully been found,” reminisces Jan Vellekoop (PDI) in the book. These and many other fond memories and anecdotes can be found in the book. Definitely worth reading!

Would you like a copy of ‘KUBO 75 years’?

The book was launched in January for staff. It struck a nice celebratory note on the back of the Covid outbreak.
